About MedStudy Learning Resources

Core Curriculum products are comprehensive IM and Peds medical education and board review resources that feature on-point content and a conversational writing style that makes internal medicine and pediatrics concepts and standards of care uniquely easier to understand for thousands of physicians and pediatricians. The Cores’ conciseness and clarity of explanation allow the reader to digest and retain material much more easily and thoroughly than with other products. Content is based on what professional medical educators have determined “every competent physician should know”—which is exactly the same material covered by the Boards, and exactly what the practicing physician needs to keep updated on. All presented in a logical framework that allows the reader to learn more internal medicine or pediatrics study material with less effort.

Strategic use of color, text highlighting, illustrations, tables, diagrams, self-quizzes, and mnemonics further enhance the reader-friendliness of the IM and Peds Cores while strengthening the user’s ability to retain what is read. The facts most likely to be tested are already yellow-highlighted in these Cores, and the Quick Quizzes on every two-page spread test the reader on these facts. Each of the traditional subspecialties has its own titled section. There is also space on every page for the user to make personal study notes.

The Core Curriculums are part of MedStudy’s integrated learning system, (Peds and IM), which includes Flash Cards/Core Scripts®, Q&A products, live courses, and course videos. Each component of this integrated study system informs, complements, and reinforces the others. Residency program directors and attendings report that residents who use MedStudy as a key component of their learning show deeper medical knowledge, and a greater expertise in evaluation and care of patients, with enhanced performance in morning reports, rounds, etc.

In short, the Core Curriculum can strengthen clinical competence ratings in residency, while at the same time providing the very best preparation available for the Boards. Similarly, physicians in practice use the Core as a current and succinct review, quickly and easily getting the key elements down.

To receive the residency or fellowship discount on live courses, you must provide a letter signed by your program or fellowship director, on letterhead, stating your status. Fax it to us at 719-520-5973 or scan and email it to customerservice@medstudy.com. After you send the letter, please call MedStudy Customer Service at 1-800-841-0547 to confirm receipt, register for the course, and receive the resident discount.

Group discounts are available for the purchase of 5 or more of any IM or Peds Core Curriculum, flash cards, Q&A, video board review, or live course. Download an order form for IM or Peds to get started. Additional questions? Call customer service at 1-800-841-0547.

About Continuing Medical Education (CME)

CME is available for original purchasers who buy currently accredited products or courses directly from MedStudy. Click here to apply for your CME credits online and receive your CME certificate immediately via email.

MedStudy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. MedStudy designates the educational activities described on this website for their respective maximums of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™.

On each CME application, the user certifies how many credits s/he has earned (1 hour = 1 credit) up to the total AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ allowed for each product or course. The CME application, which includes an evaluation and posttest, is completed online. Once submitted, the CME certificate is immediately emailed to the customer. A few products include the option to submit a paper application which can be downloaded. The completed application can be sent to MedStudy via email, fax, or regular mail for processing. For paper applications, your CME certificate is normally sent within 4–6 weeks via email. Please call our CME processing coordinator at 1-800-841-0547, ext. 3, if you need your certificate sooner.

CME credits can be claimed free of charge on all MedStudy products, provided they are applied for before the product’s CME expiration date.

No, customers are free to “split” the CME credits for a particular product. Example: Customer purchased the newest Flash Card product and needs 25 CME credits in 2016 and 25 in 2017. That customer can request to split the available credits (50). A separate application is required with each CME submission and all submissions must be received before the CME expiration date.

A customer can claim CME anytime between the purchase date of the product and the CME expiration date of the product. The CME application date will default to the current date but can be changed. This date will be the one listed on the awarded CME certificate. We cannot future-date a CME certificate, or date them past the expiration date of the product.

For new products released after July 1, 2011, CME applicants must complete a posttest, which is a short assessment of what they learned. This posttest is not required on products that were released prior to July 1, 2011. (This change was a requirement of the American Medical Association.)

With the September 30, 2015, announcement of the collaboration between the ABIM and ACCME to offer more MOC point options through CME activities, MedStudy was able to incorporate changes while developing our newest products (being released in late 2016 and 2017), to meet ACCME and ABIM criteria and requirements.

Additional questions about the MedStudy CME Program? Please call our CME processing coordinator at 1-800-841-0547, ext. 3, or click here for more information.

About MedStudy Online Learning Resources

You have access to any purchased online product until its CME expires.

Registration with MedStudy is one of the safeguards we use to ensure the security of the item(s) you purchase online, as well as the security of your credit card.

Your email address is important for at least two reasons: 1) We send all purchase receipts to the email address you provide; and 2) We also send out Certificate(s) of CME credits after you have applied for such credit.

Your credit card is extremely safe with MedStudy. MedStudy implements security measures to protect against unauthorized access to, or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. As with any legitimate merchandising website, when you reach “Checkout” on the MedStudy site, you will see that “http” portion of the address changes to “https,” confirming you have entered a secure transaction zone. This means any personal information, including name, address, email address, and credit card information, is safe from any outside intruders.

MedStudy does not share, sell, trade, exchange, or rent your personal information to others. This guarantee includes your email address.

Purchasing Used MedStudy Products

You may occasionally find MedStudy products for sale by someone other than MedStudy, but a few words of caution are in order:

The opportunity to obtain CME credits is available only to the original individual purchaser of a product, bought directly from MedStudy. A product resold by another party, even if unused, does not qualify for CME credits. Many will advertise that their products come with CME, but this is not so. If CME credit is important to you, be sure to buy your MedStudy product directly from MedStudy. See CME for more information about CME.

MedStudy of course cannot guarantee the quality of any product sold by another party. We’ve had reports of people buying used books that arrive in extremely worn condition, of new or used CD-ROMs and DVDs that won’t function properly. MedStudy supports and guarantees the quality of products if they are purchased through us, but not if they are resold in used condition by someone else.

Unfortunately, a few unscrupulous sellers of MedStudy products are not selling original products at all but rather illegal copies of our products. These people violate federal copyright law because all content in the MedStudy material is original work that is the property of MedStudy and is registered with the U.S. Copyright Office. MedStudy owns the exclusive right to control the reproduction, distribution and use of this content. This situation presents the unwary buyer not only the risk of extremely inferior quality but also potential legal liability since it is against federal copyright law to sell or buy such illegal copies. Penalties can range up to $250,000 and/or 5 years in jail. So when considering buying a used product, definitely make sure it is an original product and not a copy of any kind.

Note: MedStudy operates in good faith and appreciates the fact that our customers continue to be loyal and supportive of our efforts. When people attempt to sell illegal copies of our works, it hinders our efforts to keep products affordable for the vast majority of our customers. You can report anyone selling (or buying) illegal products to copyright@medstudy.com, providing as much information as you can about the infringer(s). Thank you.

No. Without the expressed written permission from MedStudy, you cannot legally copy this material except for making copies of the paper products for your own personal use (of material you have legally purchased). If you have a special situation in which you would like to make use of limited copies of specific MedStudy material (e.g., for a teaching situation), you can contact MedStudy to request permission to make copies, and we will try to accommodate such reasonable requests. Without such permission, any copying for sale or for distribution to others — even free distribution — is prohibited.
